John C Smith

John C Smith, 77, of Tecumseh, OK passed away on April 21, 2024 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was born on July 24, 1946 to Otis Truman and Levada Lottie (Wisdom) Smith in Shawnee, Oklahoma. 

John married Sandra Ellen (Sneed) on November 18, 1966, in Tecumseh, OK.

John worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 35 years. He started as an aircraft electrician on the B-52 in 1966 which fostered his love of airplanes. John spent most of his career as a program manager. When he moved to the facilities office, he developed a passion for CAD modeling. He spent many years keeping all of the detailed drawings of Tinker's buildings up to date. After he retired in 2001, he worked part-time at Vater Office Furniture developing their clients' office layouts.

John's favorite place to be in his shop making sawdust. He loved having a carpentry project. He built a western fort for his grandsons, complete with a bank and saloon. He loved being outside on his tractor. John could always be found in front of the tv watching NASCAR, college football, Dallas Cowboys, and OKC Thunder basketball. Family dinners were always full of laughter. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Truman and Levada Lottie Smith and one brother, Bob Smith.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Smith of Tecumseh, OK; two children, Brian Smith and his wife, Wendy, of Tecumseh, OK, Emily Williams and her husband, Martin, of Tecumseh, OK; three grandsons, Geoffrey Smith of Midwest City, OK, Sam Williams of Tecumseh, OK, and Max Williams of Tecumseh, OK; and one sister-in-law, Rheta Smith of Prague, OK.
